‘I will kill them’: Mikel Arteta sends message to Arsenal players ahead of Man City

Mikel Arteta has sent a strong message to Arsenal players ahead of their match with Manchester City.

Arsenal’s Premier League title charge is on the verge of collapse.

The Gunners have sat top of the division for the majority of 2022/23 with a decent gap between themselves and Manchester City.

However, Arsenal have drawn with Liverpool, West Ham and Southampton in their last three matches.

This means Manchester City will go top of the PL if they beat or draw with Arsenal on Wednesday and win their two games in hand.

Given Arsenal’s players have never been in this situation before, there is a feeling that their lack of experience will cost them.

But when asked if there was any prospect of his players being intimidated by the occasion, the Spaniard said: “No. And if they do, I will just say: ‘I will kill them.’ And I don’t want that at all.”

“You have to go to Chelsea and you have to beat them. You have to go away from home and win. This is what we’ve been doing. This is why we’re here. Now you have to go to City and you have to beat them. If you want to be champions you have to win those matches. It’s as simple as that.”
