Hudson-Odoi hopeful of signing new Chelsea deal in next few weeks – BBC

Hudson-Odoi & Chelsea

In the limited game time that he has earned for Chelsea’s senior side, Callum Hudson-Odoi has shown himself to be a real hot prospect.

The 18-year-old was rather impressive for Chelsea this past season, in their quest for Europe League glory.

In nine appearances, five of which came off the bench, CHO scored four and assisted two in the EL.

However, Maurizio Sarri rather limited the youngster’s game time in the Premier League.

As a result of his lack of playing time, Hudson-Odoi reportedly handed in a transfer request back in January.

However, Chelsea did not sell Hudson-Odoi, who now has one year left on his current deal.

Lampard praises CHO

Now, though, with Sarri at Juventus and Frank Lampard back at Stamford Bridge, things appear to be looking brighter on the Hudson-Odoi front.

Chelsea currently can’t sign any players due to a transfer ban. And with the potential that he is showcasing, losing CHO would be a massive mistake.

However, Lampard does seem rather keen to have the Englishman stick around and be a central part of his team:

“I am not going to say things that are pie in the sky. But, with his talent, he can be central to this team, he can be central to England.

“He can show, right here at Chelsea, the team he came through the academy at, that he is going to be a world-class player – because I truly believe that.

“I will pay a lot of care and attention to Callum. Because of the contractual position he is in – to try to get him to stay, and not with any lies or any false statements to him.

“That of course goes to a decision between him and the club. And I am not involved in the financial negotiations. But I can certainly tell him how I see it and I see him being a huge player for us.” As quoted by BBC Sport.

On the back of Lampard’s public backing of Hudson-Odoi, the player, according to the BBC, is hopeful of agreeing a new deal with Chelsea in the next few weeks.

The same report alleges that, while formal talks have yet to begin, a five-year deal worth £100,000-per-week is on the table.
