Gary Neville & Steven Gerrard lead Mykhailo Mudryk praise after Chelsea debut

Two former English internationals were amongst those to reveal their excitement regarding the talents of Chelsea new boy Mykhailo Mudryk on Saturday.

The name of wide-man Mudryk, of course, took its place centre stage across the Chelsea fanbase earlier today.

This came owing to the Ukrainian international - secured in a big-money deal from Shakhar Donetsk last week - being afford his Blues bow.

En route to a goalless Premier League stalemate with Liverpool, Mudryk was afforded his first chance to shine, courtesy of a 35-minute cameo off the bench.

And though he at times looked raw, the explosive potential possessed in the 22-year-old’s twinkling feet was immediately clear for all to see.

In turn, post-match, the Chelsea faithful were quick to make clear their excitement regarding a player expected to develop into something of a pillar at the club over the years to come.

And, as alluded to above, such supporters have since been joined in their admiration for Mudryk by two high-profile names in the English game.

First, speaking on BT Sport, Liverpool icon and ex-Aston Villa head coach Steven Gerrard had the following to say when drawn on his first impressions of the January arrival at Stamford Bridge:

“Mykhaylo Mudryk looks the real deal, some of his clips today were outstanding. He reminded me a little bit of Arjen Robben, his footwork, how quick he is, how he manipulates the ball, I would be very excited if I was Chelsea.”

And Gerrard was joined in his praise by former Manchester United star Gary Neville, who took to social media to provide a defender’s take on Mudryk’s Chelsea debut:
