FIFA 22 Ultimate Team: Best Bundesliga players

FIFA 22 is finally here! The game became available to everyone from the 1st of October 2021.

So, with the full edition having been out for just over two weeks at the time of writing, players are of course beginning to piece together their dream teams.

Due to the limitations of chemistry, it generally means that users must create hybrid sides to fit in the players they want to use, to ensure that they are not at a disadvantage.

This year, one of the most popular leagues being used either for a full eleven or as part of a hybrid is the Bundesliga.

The German top-flight has a number of quality stars available to you and 101 have picked out the best 10 for you to use.

Note: This list is not based on ratings, but rather how effective a player is in game and how easy he is to link to other players to ensure that you get adequate chemistry. Price is also factored into the equation.

Emre Can, Borussia Dortmund (82 rated)

Emre can has been handed an excellent early-game card on FIFA 22. The German is very well-rounded and would work well either as a box-to-box CM or as a CDM with a partner.

78 pace is fine for a midfielder early on, whilst his 84 defending and 87 physical are Can’s standout stats.

The German’s 78 passing could be improved upon, but that is nothing the right chemistry style can’t fix.

He is also one of the few usable Dortmund players you can link to Erling Haaland this year.

Lukas Klostermann, RB Leipzig (80 rated)

For whatever reason, FIFA 22 has handed a number of Bundesliga centre-backs some pretty impressive pace stats.

One of these players is Lukas Klostermann, who has 85 pace and is 6ft 2 tall, making him a great option early in the game.

His medium/medium work rate is not ideal (medium/high is better for centre-backs), but the defender is still certainly one to consider early-game.

Erling Haaland, Borussia Dortmund (88 rated)

With FIFA 22 having been out for less than a month, there are still not that many top striking options to choose from.

When it comes to finishing, Haaland is one of the best gold cards in the game as things stand.

However, he does not feature too highly on this list due to his three-star skill moves and weak foot. In addition, it is quite hard to fit him into your side without either using an icon or making the rest of your team worse.

Kevin Mbabu, Wolfsburg (79 rated)

Kevin Mbabu is one of the best budget right-back options in the game at present.

Despite only being 79-rated, he is one of the faster right-backs in Europe’s top-five leagues on FUT 22.

The Swiss international also has decent dribbling, as well as very respectable defending and physical traits for a low-rated gold card.

His Swiss nationality and the fact that he plays for Wolfsburg also make him very easy to fit into a side, as shown later in this list.

Denis Zakaria, Borussia Monchengladbach (83 rated inform)

At the time of writing there is a strong case to be made that Denis Zakaria is one of the best non-icon CDMs on Ultimate Team.

His 83-rated inform card is absolutely insane, with 86 pace, 83 defending and 87 physical making him the perfect defensive midfielder.

The midfielder’s shooting is rather lacking at 69, but that should not be much of an issue if you use him as a CDM.

The one drawback for Zakaria, though, is that he is quite hard to fit into a side that isn’t made up purely of Bundesliga players.

Mbabu earns him a strong link as both are Swiss, but other than that there are not too many great options you can link Zakaria to, which perhaps explains why his card costs less than 70k, despite being so good.

Maxence Lacroix, Wolfsburg (79 rated)

During the early months of FIFA 22, Maxence Lacroix should be one of the better centre-back options.

His 88 pace is ridiculously high for a centre-back so early in the game cycle, which makes up for his rather average defending stats.

Lacroix also gets a strong link to Mbabu as they both play for the same club and, as he is French, is very easy to link to other meta players like Raphael Varane, N’Golo Kante, Paul Pogba, etc.

Manuel Neuer, Bayern Munich (90 rated)

There is not an awful lot to say about Manuel Neuer other than that he is one of the best goalkeepers in the game.

Goalkeepers on the whole can be pretty unreliable in FIFA 22, but the German is perhaps the best of a bad bunch.

He also gets a strong link to the aforementioned Klostermann, and another player on this list below.

Leon Goretzka, Bayern Munich (87 rated)

Leon Goretzka is one of the few players on FIFA 22 Ultimate Team with all of his stats above 80.

This makes the German a superb box-to-box midfielder and one of the most desirable cards in the game.

He is also fairly easy to fit into sides. However, Goretzka’s main drawback is that he has high/medium work rates, which are not ideal if you wish to use him as a CDM. High/high or medium/high are the ones to look out for.

Alphonso Davies, Bayern Munich (82 rated)

At present, Alphonso Davies is perhaps the second-best left-back on FUT, only behind Ferland Mendy of Real Madrid.

Davies’ 96 pace and 82 dribbling make him an excellent option going forward, with the former also helping him out defensively.

His 75 defending and 75 physical are nothing to write home about, but these traits can be improved with the right chemistry style.

The Canadian also gets strong links to Goretzka and the final player on this list, making him a very easy card to fit into your side.

Dayot Upamecano, Bayern Munich (82 rated)

The aforementioned Bayern star is, of course, Dayot Upamecano, who is perhaps the best value for money centre-back on FIFA 22 Ultimate Team at present.

The Frenchman is quick (81 pace), strong and has an insane sliding tackle. Upamecano is also very easy to link. The defender boasts strong links to all of Davies, Neuer, Goretzka and the 88-paced Lacroix. His nationality of course also allows you to create a Bundesliga/Premier League hybrid by linking ‘Upa’ to Varane, Kante, etc.

It could also be argued that, for whatever reason, he performs much better in-game than his stats would suggest.
