David Ornstein offers Manchester United transfer updates on Koulibaly, Sancho and Wan-Bissaka

BBC football journalist David Ornstein has provided a triple transfer update on Manchester United.

The Red Devils are expecting a major rebuild project this summer following a disappointing sixth-placed finish this term.

Ornstein offered updates on the club’s interest in Kalidou Koulibaly, Jadon Sancho and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Manchester United prioritising three positions

According to the BBC journalist, United are looking to sign players in four different positions.

They are hoping to recruit a centre-back, right-back, central-midfielder and a winger.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have had clear issues in defence and have been targeting a new centre-back since last summer with Jose Mourinho.

Paul Pogba’s future is also unclear, meaning Old Trafford officials may look to replace the Frenchman.

Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial also disappointed during the latter stages of the season, meaning signing another attacker looks to be on United’s agenda.

Manchester United’s triple update: Koulibaly, Wan-Bissaka and Sancho

Three players which the 13-time Premier League champions are looking at are Koulibaly, Wan-Bissaka and Sancho.

Speaking about the trio, Ornstein said:

“One of their priorities is at centre-half, Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli, I’m told they love him and the only problem with that is he’s extremely expensive.

“Napoli don’t need to sell, in 2021 he has a buyout clause of 150 million euros and has a few years left on his contract.

“Either they will be looking for a younger talent who can emerge in that position to make it his own or somebody proven.

“Also a right-back, Aaron Wan-Bissaka is very much on Manchester United’s radar, along with Manchester City.

“But they are also keen to keen to develop Diogo Dalot and the young Ethan Laird.

“Jadon Sancho is among the top targets at Manchester United and they would be his preferred option should he come back to the Premier League during this transfer window.

“I’m told a couple of months ago this would be nailed on, however, he is reluctant to give up Champions League football, he’s reluctant to join an unstable club.

“As things stand it’s 50/50 on that one, PSG, Juve, Real Madrid and Barcelona have also shown firm interest in him.

“The fee this summer would be in excess of £100 million.”
