An early fitness scare has been unveiled on the back of Premier League giants Liverpool's latest pre-season training session on Monday.

Jurgen Klopp's troops, of course, are already hard at work with a view to the fast-approaching new campaign.

With hopes intact of reclaiming the club's English top-flight crown after missing out at the hands of Manchester City at the last this past season, the Reds have made the trip to Thailand, for a warm-weather training camp.

Tuesday, meanwhile, will see Klopp and co. step things up a notch, when they play out the club's maiden pre-season friendly of 2022.

Fierce rivals Manchester United are set to prove the opponents, in a lunchtime kick-off at The Rajamangala National Stadium in Thailand's capital city of Bangkok.

As alluded to above, though, Liverpool's efforts to sour Erik ten Hag's maiden outing on the touchline at United may well come with one of the club's predicted star performers for the season ahead unavailable for selection.

The player in question? Darwin Nunez.

Hitman Nunez of course sealed a big-money move to Anfield earlier this summer, to act as a replacement of sorts for Sadio Mane.

However, according to reports, the Uruguayan international was forced to depart today's training session prematurely, owing to a minor foot issue.

It now remains to be seen whether he is declared fit enough to feature on Tuesday afternoon.
