Celta Vigo president Carlos Mourino has confirmed that they are set to lose talented midfielder Gabri Veiga this summer, pointing to his 40m release clause amid interest from Arsenal and Manchester United.
The 20-year-old has managed nine goals and three assists so far this season, and impressed enough to win La Liga’s player of the month award for February, helping his side take seven points from a possible 12.

And his rise to prominence has caught the eye of plenty across Europe, with Spanish interest spearheaded by Real Madrid and sides from the Bundesliga also thought to have been put on alert for his signature.
Though he is under contract until 2025, Celta’s president sees no way for him to remain with the Spanish outfit until then, but has warned that there will be no option for clubs to sign him for less than his release clause.
“We will only let Gabri Veiga leave for the release clause. There are many clubs interested”, Mourino explained.
“We want to keep Gabri Veiga but it will be impossible due to release clause. We know some bids he has, impossible to match”, he added.
Manchester United are another interested party, it is reported, with the Red Devils on the hunt for fresh blood in their midfield and having already been turned down by Frenkie de Jong, who once again confirmed he would like to stay with Barcelona this summer.
With a goalkeeper, striker and defender also on their wishlist this summer, adding the talented Celta man for just £35m could prove a very astute piece of business.
