Chelsea vs Man United prediction: Chelsea 2-1 Man United
Two of the top four contenders clash under the Monday night Stamford Bridge lights.
On the opening day, Manchester United ran out 4-0 winners in the reverse fixture.
Since, Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s side have struggled for form and need to put a run of wins together if they’re to make the top four.
As for Frank Lampard’s men, they are currently fourth but not in good form so risk falling out of that coveted position.
Who will come out on top in West London?
Manchester City’s two-year ban from European competition has heaped even more pressure on this game, with fifth place now a possible route into the Champions League next season. (Pending appeals etc…)

Chelsea vs Manchester United: Match preview
Chelsea are fourth right now but can they hold onto that much sought after position?
Before their mid-season break, a pair of Antonio Rüdiger goals helped the Blues to a 2-2 draw at third-placed Leicester.
That was the sixth Premier League game this season that Chelsea have failed to win despite scoring the first goal.
Only West Ham, who are currently 18th, have failed to win more in which they’ve opened the scoring this term.
That draw also meant Frank Lampard’s side have won just four of their last 13 Premier League games.
Ahead of the weekend’s matches, Sheffield United were just two behind, Spurs three behind, Everton four behind and Man United and Wolves five adrift.
There is a large cluster of clubs ready to pounce if Chelsea’s wobbles continue.
This starts a run of three massive games for Chelsea.
On Saturday they host Spurs and then, three days later, Bayern Munich are the visitors in the Champions League.
The good news is that Chelsea have lost just one of their last 17 Premier League home matches against Manchester United and are unbeaten in their last six.
Will they kick off a huge eight days with a victory?
Will Manchester United defeat Chelsea again?
As for Manchester United, despite very patchy form, their Champions League hopes are certainly not over.
Last time out, they were held to a bore 0-0 draw by Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford.
They are now unbeaten in 11 home games against Wolves in all competitions, dating back to February 1980.
They also haven’t trailed for a single minute in all those 11 games.
Prior to that, Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s side had lost back to league games 2-0, to Liverpool and Burnley.
Overall, the Red Devils have won just three of their last ten league outings.
But, they are just six points behind their equally flakey hosts so a win here would throw the cat amongst the pigeons.
They do, of course, have another potential route into the Champions League.
Just 70 hours after this one, they will be at Jan Breydel Stadium to face Club Brugge in the UEFA Europa League round of 32 first leg.
They are big favourites to overcome the run away Belgian league leaders but cannot take them lightly.
First though, they must be 100% focussed on this huge game.
Having beaten Chelsea 4-0 at Old Trafford on the opening weekend, they can secure their first league double over the Blues since 1987/88.
Will they secure a massive win at Stamford Bridge?
Chelsea team news vs Manchester United
Frank Lampard rung the changes for the draw at Leicester two weeks ago following a number of poor performances.
Thus, after two weeks away, it’ll be interesting to see how many are reinstalled into the XI.
The headline call at the King Power was in goal.
Aged 38 years and 126 days, Willy Caballero became the oldest player to make a Premier League appearance this season.
However, regular number one Kepa Arrizabalaga is likely to come back into the side.
At full-back, Reece James is likely to to keep his place at right-back.
Likewise, on the other side, captain César Azpilicueta will continue to cover as Lampard does not trust either Emerson Palmieri or Marcos Alonso.
In the centre, it’s a case of Antonio Rüdiger and one other, not just for his goal scoring prowess.
In fact, the German is the first defender to score a brace for Chelsea in the Premier League since John Terry in April 2013; both of his goals that day were also headed.
Andreas Christensen started the last game but he’s likely to drop out with Fikayo Tomori returning.
In midfield, Mateo Kovačić is expected to return to join Jorginho and N’Golo Kanté in a functional trio.
Mason Mount would be the man to make way.
Out-wide, Chelsea confirmed on Thursday that Hakim Ziyech will join from Ajax for €40 million in the summer.
For now, Callum Hudson-Odoi remains an integral part of the side.
Pedro got a rare start 16 days ago but Willian is expected to return here.
Christian Pulisic hasn’t featured since New Years’ Day but “Captain America” could be back available.
Up front, Tammy Abraham played through the pain and will keep his place in the XI.
His importance is underlined by the fact that eight of his 13 league goals this season have given his side the lead in a match.
Can he fire his side to a win?
Manchester United team news vs Chelsea
As for Manchester United, Ole Gunnar Solskjær does not have the same plethora of options.
So, it’ll be pretty much same again.
David de Gea will be in goal looking to add to his measly five league clean sheets so far.
In defence, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelöf are very much first choice.
Diogo Dalot, Phil Jones and Eric Bailey are the other options.
The only choice at the back to make comes at left-back.
Having impressed so far, Brandon Williams will keep his place ahead of Luke Shaw.
Axel Tuanzebe and Timothy Fosu-Mensah are injured.
In midfield, Nemanja Matić is back from suspension after becoming the first Manchester United player to both score and be sent off in a game since 2014, at Man City in the League Cup.
The Serbian international will come back into the XI against his former club with whom he won three major honours.
Andreas Pereira is likely to be the man who makes way with Fred keeping his place.
They’re still without Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay.
But, they do have Bruno Fernandes after his €55 million move from Sporting CP.
He impressed on his debut against Wolves and will be hoping to shine here too.
Another former Chelsea player, Juan Mata, will also start with Dan James on the other flank.
Jesse Lingard will be a substitute.
As will Mason Greenwood, despite the fact he has netted his ten goals this season.
Anthony Martial will lead the line with Marcus Rashford a long-term absentee.
They do have another attacking option though.
Odion Ighalo joined on loan from Chinese Super League Club Shànghǎi Lǜdì Shēnhuā on Deadline Day and will be on the bench here.
