Chelsea team news and predicted XI vs Real Madrid

The Blues must mount a mammoth comeback at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea head into the second leg of their Champions League clash with Real Madrid hoping for a miracle under Frank Lampard to see them through to the last 4.

The Blues have lost all three games under the interim boss and suffered a 2-0 defeat in the first leg that, in truth, could have been far worse.

Needing to win by two goals to take the tie to extra time, or three times to head through without a penalty shoot out, Chelsea have only scored twice in a game on two occasions this calendar year, but will have the advantage of a home crowd cheering their efforts on.

With this their last hope of securing European football next season, defeat would see them with nothing left to play for until the new campaign begins in August.

Read on for the latest team news out of west London, and how we expect Lampard to set his side up.

Predicted XI

Team News

Ben Chilwell is suspended after being sent off at the Santiago Bernabeu, meaning that Marc Cucurella is likely to come into the side at left-back, having been sent on last week as a centre-back moments before the Englishman was shown red.

Beyond that, it is the usual injury concerns for the Blues, with Armando Broja out for the remainder of the season with a knee injury.

Benoit Badiashile, Noni Madueke, David Datro Fofana and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are all ineligible having not been registered, or in the case of Aubameyang, deregistered in the January transfer window.
