Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has thus far seemed incapable of avoiding another period of woe in the English capital despite the excitement surrounding his summer appointment as the Blues continue to painfully underperform as the club continues to try to find its footing under Blueco ownership.
Currently sitting 14th in the table and boasting just one Premier League win thus far in 2023-24, Pochettino must look to get the club on track as soon as possible if it is to avoid another poor outing in the wake of a disastrous 2022-23. To do so, a tricky capital derby against Fulham offers the first opportunity but must be tackled with a laundry list of selection issues.
First, both Nicolas Jackson and Malo Gusto are serving suspensions for being sent off recently and cannot be counted on here. Next, Wesley Fofana, Christopher Nkunku, Roméo Lavia, Ben Chilwell, and Reece James all remain out with long-term injury concerns that are sure to be difficult to cope with. Finally, questions further surround Carney Chukwuemeka, Trevoh Chalobah, and Benoît Badiashile as the trio are all currently listed as doubts for involvement on Monday evening and are not anticipated to be ready in time to play any part in proceedings.
