Chelsea interested in re-signing Ake/Blues monitoring Said Benrahma – Guardian

A recent report in the English media has outlined some of the players whom Chelsea are said to be monitoring ahead of the summer.

Chelsea set for busy summer?

Recent days have certainly indicated that Chelsea are set for a fairly active summer on the transfer front.

The Blues already acquired one player’s signature back in February, with Ajax standout Hakim Ziyech set to become a Chelsea man from July 1st.

Then, in something of a surprise link, a host of reports emerged on Thursday claiming that Chelsea have all but secured a deal for RB Leipzig hitman Timo Werner.

The Ben Chilwell to Stamford Bridge rumours have also re-emerged in full force over the last couple of days.

Chelsea linked with Ake & Benrahma

Should Chelsea indeed manage to land Werner and Chilwell, on top of the already-secured Ziyech, Frank Lampard would most certainly have a much stronger squad at his disposal for the 2020/21 campaign than he does at present. And fans of the Blues would likely be very happy with this business.

However, if the aforementioned report from The Guardian is anything to go by, then Chelsea could add even more players in the coming window.

The Londoners are said to be interested in re-signing Nathan Ake from Bournemouth, who was sold to the Cherries back in the summer of 2017.

Targeting Ake does make some sense, as Chelsea’s centre-back department has arguably been one of their weakest this season. The Dutchman, though, isn’t exactly the type of commanding centre-half that Lampard and co. seem to be crying out for.

However, Ake could be available at a reduced fee if Bournemouth are relegated, as per The Guardian.

The report also adds that Chelsea are monitoring Brentford winger Said Benrahma, who could be available for £15m.

The 24-year-old has scored ten and assisted eight in 34 Championship outings this term.
