Brighton’s Evan Ferguson matched a Cesc Fabregas Premier League record with hat-trick vs Newcastle

Brighton & Hove Albion starlet Evan Ferguson secured for himself a head-turning piece of history en route to the Seagulls’ downing of Newcastle United on Saturday.

For those who may have missed it, Brighton were back in action a short time ago.

Eyeing a third win from four to start the campaign, Roberto De Zerbi’s troops welcomed the aforementioned Newcastle to the Amex, for a highly-anticipated Premier League clash.

And, when all was said and done, march on to another three-point haul is precisely what the day’s hosts managed.

This came courtesy of a Ferguson-inspired 3-1 triumph, which saw the Republic of Ireland international enjoy an afternoon to remember, en route to a hat-trick.

After slotting home his first on the rebound, the young hitman was back at it again midway through the 2nd-half, on this occasion bending home a sumptuous effort from 25 yards:

With Ferguson still just 18 years of age, it should, in turn, come as little surprise to hear that his treble against Newcastle came as a noteworthy one when it comes to the history books of English football.

Not only that, but, with his opener on Saturday, Ferguson joined Arsenal icon Cesc Fabregas as just the 2nd non-English player to rack up 10 Premier League goal involvements by the age of 18:
