Spanish giants Barcelona have, on Thursday, been dealt an altogether concerning blow on the personnel front.
The Blaugrana star primed for a spell on the sidelines? Ronaldo Araujo.
Stopper Araujo, as expected, played a key role in Barca’s opening fixture of the new campaign, filling in at right-back to fine effect en route to a scoreless draw against Getafe.
The Uruguayan, however, has since picked up a training ground injury.
As per an official statement across Barcelona’s website and social media platforms:
‘Araujo has a problem with his left hamstring. He’s out and his recovery will mark his return.’
Ensuing reports, meanwhile, point towards Araujo being set for a spell of between four and six weeks on the sidelines.
Should this prove to be the case, the 24-year-old is in line to miss Xavi Hernandez’s side’s La Liga meetings with all of Cadiz, Villarreal and Osasuna.
The first international break of the season will follow, after which Araujo will be eyeing a swift return to the pitch, ahead of the Catalans kicking their continental campaign into gear in the group stages of the 2023/24 Champions League.
