On-loan Arsenal talent Nuno Tavares etched his name into the history books of Ligue 1 giants Olympique Marseille on Sunday evening.
Portuguese stopper Tavares, of course, was afforded a temporary departure from north London earlier this summer.
On the back of Oleksandr Zinchenko’s arrival at the Emirates, it was decided that the best option for Tavares’ development would be linking up with a club prepared to offer him game-time on a weekly basis.
And to say that, just weeks into the campaign, this looks set to prove an inspired decision, would be something of an understatement.
Arsenal’s explosive young full-back has gone on to enjoy an explosive start to life in France, finding the net in both of his first two appearances in Marseille colours.
And such a trend, remarkably, continued earlier this afternoon.
After being picked out by fellow ex-Arsenal starlet Matteo Guendouzi just outside the penalty area during a Ligue 1 trip to OGC Nice, Tavares went on to rattle a superb finish home off the inside of the near post:
And, in the process, the 22-year-old secured for himself a head-turning spot in the OM history books.
As per statisticians Opta, Tavares is just the 2nd defender in the last 75 seasons to find the net on three or more occasions across his first four Ligue 1 appearances for Marseille.
The other? French national icon Laurent Blanc.
