Arsenal target turns out to be a massive Liverpool fan

Arsenal v Liverpool

Every Sunday the tabloids in England print an enormous amount of transfer gossip.

This weekend was no different, as Arsenal fans were fed a story in the Mirror concerning an attacking midfielder from the Bundesliga.

According to the red-top, the Gunners are interested in RB Leipzig’s Emil Forsberg. It was reported:

Arsenal are preparing a £20million bid for Swedish star Emil Forsberg.

The 25-year-old attacking midfielder has attracted rave reviews with his performances for RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga.

That interesting rumour spread like wildfire, however it’s taken less than a day for the gossip to be rendered as rubbish as Liverpool entered the picture.

Forsberg talks to Bild

While the English press speculated over Forsberg’s future, German paper Bild have spoken to the Swede directly.

25-year-old Forsberg recently penned a new deal with RB Leipzig keeping him at the club until 2022, and the player has no intention of bailing on his commitment anytime soon. He said:

Anything is possible in football, but I have extended my contract because I feel very comfortable in Leipzig.

In another blow for the Gunners, Forsberg answered a question of his favourite team when he was kid, saying:

In my childhood it was Liverpool because of my Dad. I slept in Liverpool pyjamas.
