Arsenal injury updates on Gabriel Jesus, Jurrien Timber & Oleksandr Zinchenko

All the latest Arsenal injury news.

Arsenal kicked off their Premier League season with a 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest.

Jurrien Timber started the game but was taken off in the second half due to injury.

Arsenal will assess Timber shortly to determine the extent of the injury.

Mikel Arteta explained why the Dutchman was sent out for the second half despite struggling before the break: “The doctors looked at him and they were happy for him to continue, he was as well. Straight away in the first action of the second half he made a movement and it was a bit funny.

“We took him out straight after and now we have to assess him and see what he has.”

Elsewhere, Gabriel Jesus missed the opening weekend after having a second operation on a knee injury.

“He’s had some discomfort in his knee that has been causing some issues and they had to go in and resolve it,” Arteta said last week. “It’s not something major but he’s going to be out for a few weeks I think.”

Arsenal have not put any timeframe on Jesus’ return, but he is not expected back before the international break in the middle of September.

Finally, Oleksandr Zinchenko was expected to return against Nottingham Forest but was not involved in the squad:

“I think everyone is available,” Arteta said ahead of the game, suggesting the left-back may have been left out for a tactical reason or not quite been sharp enough to play.

Whatever the reason, Zinchenko is expected to be ready for the match with Crystal Palace next weekend.
