Arsenal have added a new member of backroom staff to Mikel Arteta’s side as ‘Tekkers Guru’ Hussein Isa has been appointed their new attacking-phase coach.
The Gunners currently sit top of the Premier League, five points clear of Manchester City in second place, and have scored the second most goals this campaign.
Now, they have taken the odd step of hiring Isa, who has played professionally with Hashtag United, Romford and internationally for England Futsal, where he has racked up 28 caps.
He has also earned the nickname ‘Tekkers Guru’ for his ball-striking abilities, especially from dead-ball situations, with several clips going viral on social media.
Now, in a remarkable turn of events, he will be joining up with Arsenal in an attempt to ensure that the youthful attackers at the club continue to grow and improve.
As per the Athletic, “the plan is for Isa to start work in the summer, when Arsenal begin preparations for the 2023-24 season”.
On-the-pitch additions to follow?
On the pitch, meanwhile, Arsenal need reinforcements, with an attacker and a central midfielder being targeted this January.
The club remain locked in talks with Shakhtar Donetsk forward Mykhaylo Mudryk, who the Ukrainian side value in excess of £88m, while they are also interested in a deal to bring Atletico Madrid outcast Joao Felix to the Emirates Stadium this winter after his public falling-out with Diego Simeone.
They face Oxford in the FA Cup third round on Monday night, knowing that a win will set up an away tie with Manchester City in the fourth round in a season that continues to revolve around Pep Guardiola and his former assistant.
