Andy Robertson has been discussing how he communicates with Liverpool new boy, Darwin Nunez.

Liverpool paid an initial £64m for the striker, with an extra £12.8m payable after a certain number of appearances and then another £8.5m payable in success-related add-ons – totalling just over £85m.

This makes Nunez the 4th-most expensive in the history of the Premier League behind only Jack Grealish, Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba.

The Uruguayan had a solid 2020/21 which saw him score 12 and assist 13 in 43 outings across all competitions. It was this past season, though, where he has really came into his own.

Nunez netted 26 and assisted four in 28 league games for Benfica whilst also finding the net on six occasions in the Champions League.

As a result, Liverpool players were no doubt excited to work with the South American.

However, for some players, communication appears to have been a bit of an issue so far.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Andy Robertson was asked how he communicates with Nunez.

The Scotsman responded by stating he doesn’t think they have spoke yet and have just smiled at one another, prompting a laugh from Jurgen Klopp who was sat next to the full-back in the press conference:

“I don’t think me and him have had many conversations yet, we’ve just kind of smiled at each other,” Robertson said.
