Santi Cazorla opens up
Several weeks ago, rumours were spreading that Santi Cazorla’s Arsenal career could be over.
Cazorla last played for Arsenal in October, in the 6-0 Champions League win over Ludogorets.
Since then, Cazorla has been out with an achilles tendonitis injury that has lead to multiple operations.
Arsenal handed Cazorla a one-year deal to see him until the end of the 2017/2018 season but there has been a real concern that he will not play at all in the coming campaign.
This week the Spanish midfielder has spoken about his situation in a revealing interview with Onda Cero, and he’s delivered excellent news for all Gooners.
What did he say?
The headline quote from Cazorla is that he’s not ready to retire.
Moreover, he’s backing himself to return to full fitness soon, telling the Spanish radio station:
I will return to my best level and hopefully as soon as possible.
I did not know the problem I had. I came to Spain and it looks like it’s already fixed.
I came to think that I would not play football again to my level. I would leave the operating room, everything would be fine, and I would go back again.
I do not have strength in my tendon or muscle mass, I needed time.
Every day my son asks me if I can play again. He really wants to see me on the pitch and I hope it will happen soon.
Mustafi trolls Santi
This week Santi has also posted an update on Instagram from in the gym.
That’s prompted Shkodran Mustafi into cracking the following joke.
