Bayern Munich and Aston Villa have named their starting sides for their friendly at at Kawloon’s Kai Tak Sports Park on Friday.
Roten head coach Vincent Kompany says his aim is to win the Champions League in 2026/27, having cantered to the Bundesliga title, won the German Cup and reached a European semi-final last season.
Villa are also back in the Champions League this season and have warmed up for the new campaign by a have beating an Indonesia XI and Thai side BG Pathum United on their Asian tour.
Bayern’s competitive season starts with the German Super Cup showpiece against Borussia Dortmund on August 22 (19:30 BST). Villa meet Paris Saint-Germain in the Super Cup on August 12 (20:00).

Bayern confirmed starting team vs Villa
Kim Min-jae and Tom Bischof are the duo to keep their places from Bayern’s 2-1 win over Jeju on Tuesday.
Kompany says he “loves” back-up goalkeeper Jonas Urbig but Manuel Neuer starts in goal as captain against Villa.
Joshua Kimmich missed training with a minor groin strain and is on the bench, as is Bara Sapoko Ndiaye, who was rested because of a knock to the midfielder’s knee.
Forwards Harry Kane and Michael Olise, defender Dayot Upamecano and wingers Jamal Musiala and Serge Gnabry are not expected to play as they continue to rest following the World Cup.
Wideman Alphonso Davies and new striker Ismael Saibari are in Munich working on their fitness.

Boubacar Kamara returned from injury and scored as a second-half substitute against Pathum in Bangkok on Tuesday and the Villa midfielder starts this time in one of five changes for his side.
Pau Torres, Ian Maatsen, Brian Madjo and George Hemmings also come in, with TJ Carroll, Triston Rowe and Lamare Bogarde moving to the bench.
Captain John McGinn (knee) and new winger Alejandro Garnacho are injured, with both expected to be ready by the start of the Premier League season.
