A concerning story surrounding the wellbeing of legendary goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar has come to the fore on Friday evening.
This comes amid confirmation by way of multiple sources that the 52-year-old has been placed in the intensive care unit in hospital.
Van der Sar, it is understood, has suffered a brain hemorrhage.
The incident occurred whilst the former Manchester United and Juventus star was on vacation in Split, Croatia.
Dutch giants Ajax, for whom the shot-stopper lined out for nine years and recently departed his role as sporting director, confirmed the sad news a short time ago.
In a statement across their website and social media platforms, the capital outfit announced:
‘On Friday, Edwin van der Sar has had a bleeding around his brain. He’s currently in hospital in the intensive care unit.’
Thankfully, it is also noted that the Dutchman ‘is in a stable condition’.
