Ajax bid farewell to club legend Tadic after contract termination

Eredivisie giants Ajax have, on Friday, announced the departure of veteran attacker Dusan Tadic.

For those not aware, the subject of Serbian international Tadic’s future, out of the blue, emerged as a major talking point in the Dutch media earlier today.

This came after word was forthcoming that negotiations had been opened, over the immediate termination of his contract.

The 34-year-old, it is understood, has been left altogether unimpressed by the transfer strategy put in place at The Johan Cruyff Arena this summer, adding to his frustrations with the club’s struggles this past season.

Tadic, in turn, made clear his intention to seek out pastures new, fresh off another hugely productive individual campaign in Amsterdam.

And, as alluded to above, late on Friday, the former Southampton man’s wish has been granted.

‘Dusan Tadic will leave Ajax with immediate effect. The club has honoured the player’s request to terminate his current contract. The Serb’s contract at Ajax ran until June 30, 2024, but will now end immediately.’

The Serb’s stint comes to a close as one of the most iconic in Ajax’s recent history, spanning five years, and a remarkable 217 goal contributions in 241 appearances.
