Nantes have finally found their feet in France this season after a dreadful run of form sees them 11th in the table ahead of a trip to the Stade de la Meinau where Strasbourg and their current struggles await them.
In line with the theme of last season, sides like Rennes and Nice who began the season so promising in 2021/22 are now struggling to carry on their form shown last time out. Strasbourg are in the same boat, and a winless start now keeps them 16th in the table and as one of the four clubs without a victory right now.
After failing to win their last three preaseason fixtures, Strasbourg are now heading into this game without tasting victory in all competitions since mid-June, which extends the run to seven games. Last time out, the club lost 1-0 to Auxerre away from home, as they once again threatened to test the defence of the opposition.
Nice and Reims have also drawn 1-1 with Strasbourg this season, and on top of Julien Stephan’s men losing to Monaco on home turf on the opening day, this game now feels like a must-win already for Stephan.
Nantes have finally got in the win column, however, after previously losing to Marseille and drawing a game each against Angers and Lille. Evann Guessand, Moses Simon and Mostafa Mohamed all scored in the win over Toulouse last weekend, as Nantes had an impressive eight shots on target.
It’s a game that could go either way based off the starts so far, but given the desperation for Strasbourg to get a win, this one is pointing towards yet another draw in many ways.
