15th and 16th in Ligue 1 will clash this weekend as Reims and Auxerre do battle in the French top flight as both sides aim to remain outside of the drop zone with just a one-point gap above the relegation places for either team heading into this game.
It’s been a dismal start to the season for both Reims and Auxerre with both sides boasting of just nine points from 11 games so far this campaign. Reims are ahead of their opposition here in the table by goals difference, as they have scored one more goal (12) than Auxerre’s 11, while also letting in 19 goals compared to their 23.
Oddly enough, the away side here have managed to win more games than Reims, with the home outfit laying claim to just the sole victory in the league so far. In fact, with six draws, they are only out of the bottom five based on the fact they have managed to accumulate six points in this manner. They have also lost just four games, which is the same as eight-placed Clermont Foot.
Reims are also on a run of three draws on the bounce, which includes drawing 0-0 with the top two teams in the league right now, Lorient in second and Paris Saint-Germain in first. They also claimed a point off Troyes, but by losing to Monaco and Toulouse prior to this, while drawing with Lens, the club have to go back to the end of August to see their last win as they defeated Angers 4-2.
