Match Preview

Two sides sitting at either end of the Ligue 1 table will meet here as Lens travel to the Stade Auguste Delaune where Reims will be aiming to continue on with their excellent winning form after a fantastic victory in midweek.

Despite such a great result during the week, Reims still sit deep in the shadow of Lens with them recording a fantastic win too. Lens met with Lorient in the week in what was meant to be a tough game for the club. It was anything but that, as Florian Scotoca scored twice in the game, as Wesley Said, Lois Openda and Salis Abdul Samed all scored a goal each in the 5-2 win.

This excellent result keeps Lens in second and just behind Paris Saint-Germain on goal difference with the champions scoring a stunning 21 times in contrast to Lens’ 14. What’s more, the club have also won the other games and drawn with Ajaccio too, meaning victories over Rennes, Monaco and Brest keeping the club second.

Reims destroyed Angers 4-2 during the week with goals from Florian Balogun, Junya Ito, Marshall Munetsi and Alexis Flips. Jens Cajuste, however, was sent off in the game and now remains unavailable for this game.

This was also the club’s first win of the season, after previously drawing twice and losing twice so far. This does put them above the relegation zone by just a point, with them also seeing 12 goals go in and nine scored themselves - this is the same amount of goals scored as fourth-placed Lyon.

Lens will be confident in keeping up their early title fight here, and they will be the clear favourites to achieve win number five of the season and heap further misery on Reims.
