Lille are aiming to move on swiftly from their disappointing loss in the French Cup to Lyon in midweek with the 2020/21 champions right back in the mixer for the European spots after a great run of league form before meeting with Strasbourg this weekend.
Lille have lost just one game in 90 minutes since the World Cup, as Nice narrowly beat them 1-0 at home two weeks ago. Lille did manage to get a fantastic 3-1 win over Rennes just prior to their loss to Lyon in midweek.
Andre Gomes scored that day for his side, as Remy Cabella also got back on the scoresheet, while Edon Zhegrova also netted. It does, however, mean Jonathan David’s lengthy run without a goal has continued in Ligue 1.
As for Strasbourg, they managed to win again last weekend when they defeated Montpellier at home. Combine this with a 2-2 draw against Lens and a win over Lyon and it means the club are almost out of the relegation zone.
They now sit just one point from safety and still in the bottom four.
