Angers are staring in the face of Ligue 2 when they meet with Toulouse on Sunday afternoon as the club come into this game off the back of another devastating loss to Montpellier as Toulouse sit 12th in the top flight.
Toulouse are winless in their past three Ligue 1 games, as they’ve lost to Marseille, Reims and Clermont Foot by conceding seven goals and scoring only two. They are, however, now in the French Cup semi-finals.
This comes after Philippe Montanier’s men smashed Ligue 2′s Rodez 6-1 at Stadium TFC at the start of March where six different goalscorers got in on the act for Toulouse.
The club are behind Lyon in 10th by seven points now, as their hopes of a top half finish begin to slip away. They have, however, still scored an impressive 41 goals so far.
Angers were battered by Montpellier 5-0 last weekend, and things were made worse by Nabil Bentaleb’s red card in the second half which now means he misses this game.
Angers’ gap on the safe spots in Ligue 1 is now 12 and there is almost no hope in them surviving at this stage in the campaign.
