Off the back of a defeat each, Ajaccio will head back to the Estadio François-Coty this weekend when they meet with a Lorient side now back in the losing column after an otherwise solid start to life in Ligue 1 this campaign.
Ajaccio have been welcomed back into the French top flight with an almighty reality check. So far, any hopes the fans brought with them from a fantastic Ligue 2 campaign have already seemed to fade with the club so far losing four of their five games and now sit rock bottom of the table.
In fact, considering the club’s only point came against Lens in a goalless draw, Ajaccio haven’t even managed to score in a game where it’s meant something after five league games with them now on a three-game losing run too. Rennes, Lille and Montpellier have all defeated them in this run and scored seven goals against them.
Lorient, however, have only just tasted their first defeat of the 2022/23 Ligue 1 season with them getting crushed by the high-flying, second-placed Lens. Lorient were hammered 5-2 on Wednesday night, as Terem Moffi scored yet again with two goals.
Previous to this, Lorient had defeated Rennes and Clermont Foot and were sitting fifth in the table after also drawing 2-2 with Toulouse. They do also have a game in midweek, as the rescheduled game against Lyon takes place on Wednesday.
Régis Le Bris’ men do take with them the exceptional form of Moffi into this game, and despite conceding five just days ago, there should be some confidence in front of goal for Lorient.
