Third and 12th are set to meet in League Two this weekend when Tranmere Rovers head to Northampton Town as the Merseyside club look to get their playoffs charge back on track with Northampton fighting for a spot in the automatic promotion areas.

Northampton are comfortably sitting third in the table in this moment and are the highest-scoring side in League Two so far, netting four more than the league leaders, Leyton Orient. They have scored 34 times from 19 fixtures and they are relatively comfortable in third right now with a seven-point gap on Swindon Town in seventh and eight points on Mansfield Town down in eighth just outside of the playoff spots.

Northampton have, however, conceded 20 goals in the league so far and must improve on this slightly to put pressure on those in the top two. The club are also set to stay in third and can’t drop any lower in the table this weekend as they sit four points clear of Barrow in fourth.

Tranmere have been very topsy-turvy this season and sit right in the middle of the table in 12th with seven wins and seven losses on the board already. What’s more, with 19 goals scored from 19 games, there is clear room for improvement. The club are also sitting quite a distance away from the playoffs right now and need to win here to get their season back on track.
