Port Vale vs Morecambe betting tips: League One preview, prediction and odds

[RECOMMENDED_BETS]

Match preview

Port Vale will welcome last-placed Morecambe to Vale Park this Boxing Day as the home side aims to stay in the top half of the table with the Shrimps still slumped at the foot of the table with nothing to shout about.

A long relegation battle is on the cards for Morecambe at this stage in the season and there seems to be no hope for fans in regards to moving out of the drop zone. Morecambe are now sitting with the fewest wins in the league right now with just two on the board. It also comes with the fewest goals scored throughout their 21 games so far, and worse yet, there is now a five-point gap for the club to make up on the safe spots in League One.

Last time out, the Shrimps were unfortunate not to get a point away to the league leaders Plymouth Argyle, as Sam Cosgrove scored in the final 10 minutes for Argyle to steal all three points. They also drew 1-1 with Exeter City a few weeks back and registered the same scoreline against Portsmouth just prior to that.

As for Port Vale, they lost 1-0 to Salford City in the Football League Trophy after an early goal for them that day. On the other hand, they are still in the top half of the table after winning eight games and losing eight too. At the same time, the club managed to defeat the league leaders a few weeks back in a 2-0 win away from home – it is easily the best result of the season for Vale.
