Osasuna vs Almería match preview

Following last weekend’s heartbreaking defeat in the Copa del Rey Final, can Osasuna get back to winning ways?

Last Saturday night, in only their second-ever Copa final, los Rojillos were beaten 2-1 by Real Madrid in Seville.

Lucas Torró’s stunning equaliser sparked wild celebrations at Estadio de La Cartuja, but Real snatched the cup-winning goal just 12 minutes later.

So now, if Jagoba Arrasate is going to lead Osasuna back into Europe for the first time since 2006/07, they’re going to have to sneak into the top seven.

This is very much within los Gorritxoak’s grasp, starting the weekend tenth, two points below Rayo and just three adrift both Athletic Club and Girona.

Also, they still have to play both Athletic and Giorna at home, doing so in ten days and on the final night of the season respectively.

Almería meanwhile are, possibly, just one win away from safety, sat 14th, a mere two points clear of the drop zone.

La Unión beat bottom of the table Elche last time out, Léo Baptistão and Adri Embarba scoring, meaning they’ve won three of their last six, also defeating fellow-strugglers Getafe and Valencia in this period.

On the road, Rubi’s team have struggled all season, with their first, and so far only, away victory of the campaign coming at Getafe 18 days ago.

Thus, a home win seems the most likely outcome at El Sadar.
