Manchester City’s summer recruitment drive is set to start with the signing of midfielder Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan.
City and Milan are reported, via David Ornstein and Fabrizio Romano, to have agreed a fee of £46.3million for the Netherlands international with the player also successfully negotiating a five-year deal at the Etihad.
The 26-year-old signed a five-year contract extension at Milan in March but is now set to depart San Siro as Pep Guardiola continues to reshape his midfield.

Reijnders a key part of the City rebuild
With Kevin De Bruyne having departed, Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva both the wrong side of 30 and Rodri tentatively making his way back from a long-term cruciate ligament injury, City are in need of some fresh blood in the centre of the field.
They signed Nico Gonzalez from Porto in January and, although he didn’t make an immediate impact, he is expected to form part of the central three going forward.
Reijnders is more of a box-to-box player, evidenced by his 15 goals for Milan last season.
City will look to get the deal done in time for Reijnders to join the squad for the Club World Cup which gets underway late next week.
Guardiola’s side have been drawn in Group G alongside Al Ain, Wydad Casablanca and Juventus.
