FPL 2025/26 GW10: Van Dijk and Reijnders among five players to offload before Gameweek 10
Liverpool's woes mean it is time to get rid of Virgil van Dijk
Sometimes holding onto big-name players can cost you valuable points, writes Fantasy Premier League expert Blake Hurst. For Gameweek 10, these five FPL players are underperforming, facing tough fixtures, or battling fitness issues, making them liabilities rather than assets. Selling them now opens up funds and spots for fresher options who can deliver more consistent returns. Strategic exits like these often separate mid-table managers from those charging for the top spots.
Table of Contents
Tijjani Reijnders (5.5m)
Reijnders looks nothing like the player we saw at the start of the season. He was shifted into a deeper midfield role against Aston Villa, where chances to attack were almost non existent. With Erling Haaland dominating City’s forward play and a tricky run of fixtures ahead, his FPL value has dipped sharply. This feels like the right moment to cash out and move on. Someone like Ismaïla Sarr from Crystal Palace, who’s enjoying more freedom and better attacking numbers, looks a far more direct and lively option in that price bracket.
Joao Pedro (7.5m)
It’s hard to justify holding Joao Pedro any longer. Across his last five matches, he’s managed just 0.36xGI (Expected Goal Involvement) – a telling sign of how little threat he’s actually offering. He’s not shooting, not creating, and the underlying numbers back that up. Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta has actually registered more big chances this season than Pedro has total shots. The upcoming fixtures might look tempting on paper, but there’s no point clinging on to a forward who’s simply not getting into scoring positions. It’s time to move him on before that frustration turns into missed points.
Pedro Porro (5.5m)
Last week’s haul might tempt managers to hold, but it’s probably the right time to sell. Tottenham are heading into a difficult run of fixtures where clean sheets will be scarce, and Porro’s price tag relies heavily on attacking returns to justify the spend. While his delivery remains dangerous, the risk of paying premium money for a defender who depends on attacking output through tougher matches just doesn’t add up. If you can change up to a well-priced defender with a better fixture swing, it’s an easy decision to move him on before others do the same.
Evanilson (7m)
Evanilson’s calf issue has made him a frustrating hold, and even once he’s fit, his place in the starting XI isn’t secure. With rotation threats all around him and fixtures that don’t immediately promise high returns, there’s little reason to gamble on his minutes. Managers need consistency at this stage, and waiting for him to regain both fitness and form feels like a waste of a slot. Shifting him now for a forward with nailed game time and solid short-term fixtures looks the smarter move.
Virgil van Dijk (6m)
Liverpool’s defensive form has looked uncertain in recent weeks, and the upcoming fixtures hardly inspire confidence. Van Dijk remains a quality player, but from an FPL perspective, the appeal is fading fast. Clean sheets look unlikely against stronger attacking sides, and at his price, there are simply better value defenders offering a higher ceiling. His leadership abilities don’t translate into FPL points, and without consistent returns at either end of the pitch, it’s hard to justify holding him. Now’s a sensible time to redirect funds toward a cheaper defender or invest more heavily in midfield.
