Rangers have been drawn against Panathinaikos in the second qualifying round of the Champions League.
The Glasgow side were knocked out of last season’s competition in the third qualifying round by Dynamo Kyiv, but they went on to enjoy a memorable run in the Europa League, reaching the quarter-finals, where they lost to Athletic Bilbao.
Rangers will be eager to secure the windfall that comes with playing in the expanded league phase of Europe’s premier competition this time around, following a takeover by a consortium headlined by 49ers Enterprises — the investment arm of the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers.
But a two-legged tie with Panathinaikos promises to be a tricky one, the Greek side having finished second in their domestic league while reaching the last 16 of the Conference League in 2024-25.
Rangers last reached the Champions League proper in the 2022-23 season, when they were knocked out in the group stage.
Match dates and kick-off times will be announced by June 23.
