Rangers 1-0 Jablonec: Naderi strike gives Gers vital win

Rangers held on for a nervy but much-needed win in the first leg of their Conference League play-off at Ibrox.

The hosts survived a late red card for substitute Cammy Devlin to see off their Czech opponents and lift some of the early season gloom in Glasgow.

Derek McInnes finally got a win under his belt last weekend with a thumping 5-1 cup win over St Mirren but there was little sign of that spark in a tight first half.

The home side were booed off by some fans at the break after a drab 45 minutes which mustered two shots on target.

But their patience was rewarded early in the second half when Ryan Naderi smashed in after fine approach play from former Sunderland man Dan Neil.

Vanja Dragojevic then fired over, and Djeidi Gassama also scooped over the top when well placed as Rangers enjoyed a spell of dominance.

Devlin then saw red just nine minutes after coming on for a rash challenge on Jiri Slama and the visitors wanted a penalty in a tense finale.

But McInnes saw his side hold on to grind out a narrow win.

Rangers travel to northern Czechia in the second leg next week with the winners advancing to the league phase of the Conference League.

Elsewhere, Motherwell were beaten 3-1 at home by Freiburg, and Hearts drew 2-2 with Rapid Vienna.
