Wednesday’s international friendlies: Previews, predictions and odds

Wednesday’s friendly matches: San Marino vs Seychelles & Vietnam vs Singapore.

San Marino vs Seychelles

[TIP_OF_THE_DAY]

Will San Marino finally win a football match?

To date, la Serenissima’s only victory came in a friendly against Liechtenstein, this 18 years ago now.

In competitive football, San Marino are yet to win, mustering just five draws from 165 outings, conceding 720 goals.

Fabrizio Costantini’s team have lost all three UEFA Nations League D matches this year, all without finding the net.

Here though, up against fellow minnows, will San Marino’s 18-year wait for a victory finally come to an end?

This time round, they were dumped out of Africa Cup of Nations qualification in the preliminary round, beaten 3-1 by the same opponents.

So, the Pirates are ranked 198th by FIFA, 13 places above their hosts.

Thus, it’ll be an historic night for one at Stadio Olimpico di Serravalle.

Vietnam vs Singapore

[TIP_OF_THE_DAY]

Preparations for next summer’s Asia Cup start here for Vietnam.

The Golden Star Warriors qualified for the tournament by virtue of reaching the third round of World Cup qualification.

This’ll be Vietnam’s third appearance at the competition, actually reaching the quarter-finals in both 2007 and 2019.

Singapore though didn’t make the cut, eliminated by Tajikistan and Kyrgyz Republic back in June.

As a result, the Lions’ wait for a first Asia Cup appearance since 1984, when they were hosts, goes on.

Thus, Vietnam are favourites to win at Thống Nhất Stadium.
