Wales vs Korea Republic match preview

After a nightmare June, Wales will be hoping to rediscover some form, momentum and confidence in this friendly.

During the summer, the Dragons suffered not one but two damaging defeats in European Championship qualifying.

First, Rob Page’s team were beaten 4-2 by Armenia in Cardiff before, three days later, suffering a 2-0 defeat to Türkiye in Samsun.

On Monday, Wales will face the group’s minnows Latvia in Rīga, in a simply must win fixture, with games against Croatia, Armenia and Türkiye to come later in the year.

As for Korea Republic, this is the first part of their two-match European-tour this month, set to take on Saudi Arabia at St James’ Park (because of course) on Tuesday.

The Taegeuk Warriors have played four friendlies this year, but are so far yet to win, holding Colombia and El Salvador to draws, also defeated by Uruguay and Peru.

South Korea should cruise through Group E at that tournament, drawn alongside Bahrain, Jordan and Malaysia, as they target the nation’s first major senior title since 1960.

This will actually be a first-ever meeting of these two teams, so will there be a winner at the Cardiff City Stadium?
