Match preview

This game is tough to call, featuring two well-matched European nations.

Slovenia haven’t qualified for any major tournament since World Cup 2010, a fact they’re desperate to rectify next year.

In the Nations League, Matjaž Kek’s team only won once, but avoided relegation to League C by virtue of a 1-1 draw in Stockholm in September.

Given that Slovenia are in a Euro qualifying group alongside, Denmark, Finland, Kazakhstan, Northern Ireland and San Marino, they’ll feel second spot is very much up for grabs.

Romania meantime did suffer Nations League relegation earlier this year, pipped to safety by Montenegro by virtue of head-to-head.

This’ll all be forgotten if Edward Iordănescu can guide the Tricolorii to the next European Championships.

Their qualification section features Switzerland, Israel, Kosovo, Belarus and Andorra; second place is more than achievable.
