Lithuania vs Montenegro match preview
Can Montenegro get back to winning ways as they seek to keep pace with Group G’s top two?
Miodrag Radulović’s team made a dream start to Euro 2024 qualifying back in March, with Nikola Krstović’s late goal seeing them beat Bulgaria 1-0 in Razgrad.
Since then though, the Brave Falcons are winless, defeated 2-0 by Serbia in Podgorica, before holding Hungary to a credible goalless draw at Stadion pod Goricom in June.
Nevertheless, if Montenegro are going to qualify for a first-ever major tournament, they’ll need to finish above at least one of those two big-hitters, which was always going to be a big ask.
On Sunday, they’ll host Bulgaria and, ahead of trips to both Belgrade and Budapest later in the year, Montenegro really need to pick up maximum points this month.
Lithuania meantime are bottom of this group with just a solitary point to their name, coming when they held out for a 1-1 draw with Bulgaria in Kaunas during the summer.
Three days later however, Edgaras Jankauskas’ team were beaten 2-0 by Hungary at Puskás Aréna, a result that extends Lithuania’s winless streak to 11 competitive matches.
Will that come to an end at Darius and GirÄ—nas Stadium, or can Montenegro pick up three priceless points?
