Gambia vs Congo betting tips: Africa Cup of Nations qualifier preview, predictions and odds

Gambia vs Congo match preview

It’s a straight shootout for qualification in Marrakesh, making this a simply huge fixture for both.

Back in June 2022, Congo won the reverse fixture in Brazzaville, Antoine Makoumbou the match-winner, but they require a repeat of that result here.

That’s because, les Diables Rouges kicked off in third place, with just six points to their name, following a 2-0 defeat to Mali last time out.

So, if Congo are going to reach a first AFCON since 2015, Paul Put’s team must win this one, a result that would see them qualify at the expense of their opponents by virtue of head-to-head.

The Gambia meantime require just a draw to cling onto second place, following their 3-2 victory over South Sudan in June.

The minnows had seemingly snatched a point in that one, equalising in the 91st minute, only for Hamza Barry to bag a 96th minute winner.

So, will Tom Saintfiet’s side pick up the draw they need, or can Congo qualify at the Gambia’s expense at Stade de Marrakech?
