Azerbaijan vs Jordan: Head to head statistics

Azerbaijan vs Jordan match preview

Can Azerbaijan claim a morale-boosting victory in Bakı?

2023 has been pretty miserable for Gianni De Biasi’s team, yielding just a solitary point from four Euro qualifiers, this coming against fellow-strugglers Estonia in June.

On Saturday, Azerbaijan were narrowly beaten 1-0 by Belgium, a defeat that means they’re still without a win in 22 European qualifiers.

So, ahead of October’s fixtures against Estonia and Austria, will Azerbaijan pick up their first victory of they year?

Well, this seems likely, given that Jordan were smacked 6-0 by Norway in Oslo on Thursday.

This is the country’s joint-biggest defeat of all-time, alongside hammerings at the hands of Lebanon in 1957, China PR in 1984 and Japan in 2012.

Nevertheless, whilst this won’t be as tough a test at Norway, Hussein Ammouta’s team travel to Dalğa Arena as big underdogs.
