Watford vs Plymouth Argyle match preview

Two sides fresh off fine opening day results are set to lock horns in a Championship clash at Vicarage Road this Saturday, August 12th.

The matchup in question will see Watford act as hosts, in a meeting with Plymouth Argyle.

Beginning with the former, Watford will head into the weekend’s slate of fixtures with confidence high in the camp.

This comes with the Hornets having romped to a hugely impressive triumph on opening day.

Despite the summer departures of star attackers Joao Pedro and Ismaila Sarr, Valerien Ismael’s troops showcased little sign of rust up top, in putting four goals past struggling Queens Park Rangers inside the opening 45 minutes.

All of Tom Dele-Bashiru, Imran Louza, Matheus Martins and Vakoun Issouf Bayo were on target, to guide Watford to the ideal season start.

Hopeful of putting a dent in such plans, though, will be the aforementioned Plymouth Argyle.

As alluded to above, Plymouth, too, kicked their season into gear in stellar fashion, courtesy of an opening day victory last time out.

The Pilgrims, in their return to the 2nd tier of English football, were first tasked with a meeting with Huddersfield Town.

And Steven Schumacher’s troops went on to impress, en route to a comfortable three-point haul.

After Morgan Whittaker’s opener was cancelled out on the stoke of the interval, late strikes on the part of Bali Mumba and Ryan Hardie proved enough to guide Preston to the right side of a 3-1 result.

A hard-fought affair, in turn, could well be in store at Vicarage Road later today.

We at 101, though, are backing hosts Watford, upon the full-time whistle bringing a close to proceedings, to emerge as narrow victors.
