Swansea City vs Coventry City match preview

Two sides fresh off altogether contrasting results last time out are set to lock horns as part of the third round of Championship fixtures at the Swansea.com Stadium this Saturday, August 19th.

The matchup in question will see Swansea City act as hosts, in a meeting with Coventry City.

Beginning with the former, Swansea, for their part, enjoyed a solid if unspectacular opening to the new campaign, thanking summer addition Jerry Yates’ equaliser for an eventual 1-1 stalemate with Birmingham City.

This, in turn, was followed by a morale-boosting three-goal drubbing of Northampton Town in the first round of the EFL Cup.

Last time out, however, the Swans saw their unbeaten opening to the term brought to an end.

Despite battling valiantly to pull two goals back courtesy through Harry Darling and Nathan Wood, the comeback efforts of the Welsh giants ultimately came up short, en route to a 3-2 downing at West Bromwich Albion.

Turning attentions towards Saturday’s visitors to southwest Wales, Coventry enjoyed an altogether more fruitful 2nd outing of the campaign last weekend.

After being condemned to defeat by Leicester City, and then sent packing from the EFL Cup in alarming fashion by AFC Wimbledon, early panic no doubt began to set in at the Ricoh Arena.

Safe to say, though, that such concerns were firmly dispelled last time out, when Mark Robins’ men put three past Middlesbrough, without reply.

Matt Godden was responsible for opening the scoring in the clash, before Haji Wright’s finish 20 minutes from time was added to by a Darragh Lenihan own goal late on.

Coventry, as a result, have jumped to mid-table in the Championship.

So, all of this taken into consideration, how do we at 101 envision Saturday’s action playing out at the Swansea.com Stadium?

We are backing visitors Coventry to ultimately emerge on the right side of the result, albeit without ruling out the chances of Swansea battling their way to another point.
