Swansea City vs Bristol City match preview

Two sides desperate for an early-season return to winning ways are set to lock horns in a Championship clash at the Liberty Stadium this Saturday, September 2nd.

The matchup in question will see Swansea City act as hosts, in a meeting with Bristol City.

Beginning with the former, Swansea, for their part, have endured an altogether underwhelming start to the new campaign.

After proving themselves one of the form sides of the final weeks of the 2022/23 term, the Welsh giants have since followed up with just two points from an available 12 this time round.

Most recently, a trip to Deepdale to face Preston North End saw Michael Duff’s troops take an early lead, through Harrison Ashby.

A 2nd-half collapse, however, ultimately culminated in a 2-1 defeat, leaving Swansea in a lowly 20th in the standings in England’s 2nd tier.

Add to this a midweek exit from the EFL Cup at the hands of Bournemouth, and Saturday’s hosts will have their sights firmly set on a first three-point haul of the season later this afternoon.

Hopeful of putting an end to such hopes, though, will be a Bristol City side also struggling for form at present.

The Robins kicked their own season into gear in positive fashion, by way of four points from six.

Since, however, they have failed to emerge triumphant from any of the club’s last three across all competitions.

After being condemned to a first loss of the term by high-flying Birmingham City, Bristol City battled their way to a commendable share of the spoils at Hull.

But this was followed in turn by a 2nd defeat in three in midweek, when Norwich put an early end to the League Cup hopes of Nigel Pearson’s men at Ashton Gate.

So, all of this taken into consideration, how do we at 101 envision Saturday’s action unfolding at the Liberty Stadium?

We are backing an eventual stalemate between Swansea and Bristol City come the full-time whistle in southwest Wales.
