Queens Park Rangers vs Sunderland match preview

Two sides hopeful of building on fine respective results last time out are set to lock horns in a Championship clash at Loftus Road this Saturday, September 16th.

The matchup in question will see Queens Park Rangers act as hosts, in a meeting with Sunderland.

Beginning with the former, QPR have endured something of a hit-and-miss season to date.

All told, in six outings across all competitions, the Hoops have been condemned to a quartet of defeats, including a 4-0 opening day drubbing at the hands of Watford.

And yet, as alluded to above, Gareth Ainsworth’s troops will likely head into Saturday’s action in England’s capital with spirits high in the camp.

This comes after QPR, in their final outing heading into the international break, secured a timely return to winning ways.

Ainsworth and co, in turn, have climbed to 17th in the Championship standings, a full four points clear of the bottom three.

And yet, it is the upcoming visitors to Loftus Road who are in fact fresh off the headline victory of gameweek 5 in England’s 2nd tier.

Sunderland, for their part, have recovered from a concerning start to the term in impressive fashion over recent weeks.

After being condemned to back-to-back defeats by Ipswich Town and Preston North End, the Black Cats have since racked up seven points from an available nine.

Most recently, Tony Mowbray’s men played host to a Southampton outfit flying high in their bid for a swift return to the Premier League.

When all was said and done at the Stadium of Light, though, Sunderland brought the Saints firmly back down to earth, courtesy of a remarkable 5-0 triumph.

Goals on the part of all of Jack Clarke, Pierre Ekwah (2), Bradley Dack and Chris Rigg guided the hosts back into the top half of the Championship table.

So, all of this considered, how do we at 101 envision Saturday’s action unfolding at Loftus Road.

Though we would not be at all surprised to see hosts QPR battle their way to a point, Sunderland should be considered narrow favourites for the clash.
