Coventry City vs Watford match preview

Two sides desperate for a return to winning ways are set to lock horns in a Championship clash at the Coventry Building Society Arena this Monday, April 10th.

The matchup in question will see Coventry City act as hosts, in a meeting with Watford.

Beginning with the former, Coventry currently find themselves in the thick of an altogether hit-and-miss spell of form.

Amid the club’s ongoing push for a promotion playoff berth, the Sky Blues have managed just two wins from their last seven, a run also including a quartet of draws, and one defeat.

Most recently, a trip to Wales to take on Swansea City saw Mark Robins’ troops forced to settle for a share of the spoils once more, owing to a goalless stalemate.

And Coventry, in turn, have slipped to 9th in the Championship table, three points off the top-six pace.

In fact, they have managed one less victory across their last seven, with Birmingham City the only side whom Watford have bested since all the way back in February.

Not only that, but the Hornets have been condemned to four defeats along the way, including, most recently, on Friday evening.

This came as a home meeting with relegation-battling Huddersfield Town saw Chris Wilder’s men put to the sword by three goals to two, an outing which also saw no.1 Daniel Bachmann given his marching orders for a pair of bookable offences.

This marked a 2nd loss on the spin, after Watford were also bested by Luton Town in their post-international break return to action.

The Hornets, as a result, have tumbled to 12th in the standings in England’s 2nd tier, three points adrift of their hosts-to-be on Monday.

And we at 101 view their chances of drawing level with Coventry courtesy of victory in the west Midlands as frankly slim, backing either the Sky Blues, or an eventual draw.
