Cardiff City vs Swansea City match preview

The 9th and last of Saturday’s slate of Championship fixtures is set to play out at 7.45, at the Cardiff City Stadium.

The matchup in question will see rivalries restored, in the latest edition of the South Wales Derby between Cardiff City and Swansea City.

Looking first at the recent endeavours of the former, Cardiff are set to enter proceedings fresh off an underwhelming opening to the campaign.

All told, across their five league outings to date, the Bluebirds have managed a single victory, to go along with three defeats.

The most recent of these losses came in the club’s final fixture before the international break, and in altogether heartbreaking fashion.

This came as a trip to high-flying Ipswich Town saw Erol Bulut’s troops surrender a two-goal advantage, on their way to the wrong side of an eventual 3-2 result.

This leaves Cardiff sitting 19th in England’s 2nd tier, just two points clear of the drop zone.

And yet, Saturday’s hosts could well fancy their chances of clinching a bounce-back result in the derby.

This comes with rivals Swansea having endured an even less productive season thus far.

Winless across their first five, Michael Duff’s men have managed to piece together a paltry total of two Championship points.

Not only that, but the Swans have been condemned to defeat in each of their last three across all competitions.

Like their upcoming opponents, last time out, Swansea too surrendered an early lead, as Liam Cullen’s opener inside 10 minutes did little more than set the stage for an eventual 2-1 loss at home to Bristol City.

Such woes leave Duff and co. occupying the last of the three relegation spots.

And we at 101 envision things going from bad to worse for Swansea later this evening, backing Cardiff to ultimately emerge victorious from the South Wales Derby.
