Cardiff City vs Coventry City match preview

Two sides fresh off hit-and-miss starts to the new campaign are set to lock horns as part of the upcoming round of midweek Championship fixtures, on Tuesday night.

The matchup in question will see Cardiff City act as hosts, in a meeting with Coventry City.

Beginning with the former, Cardiff, to their credit, have enjoyed a more fruitful time of things over the last couple of weeks.

After failing to emerge triumphant from any of their first three outings of the term, the Bluebirds have since notched wins in two of their last three.

The most recent came in altogether noteworthy fashion, too.

This came as a South Wales Derby showdown with arch rivals Swansea City saw Ollie Tanner’s opener added to by Aaron Ramsey late on, en route to a 2-0 final scoreline in the Welsh capital.

Erol Bulut’s troops, as a result, have climbed to 16th in the table, five points clear of Swansea and the bottom three.

And their upcoming opponents, coincidentally, sit on the exact same points haul as things stand.

This comes despite Coventry having endured an altogether contrasting set of results.

Since following up an opening day defeat with a 3-0 drubbing of Middlesbrough, the Sky Blues have stuttered to draws in each of their last four Championship outings.

The latest came in disappointing fashion, by way of a trip to high-flying Hull City.

After looking as though they were headed towards what would have proven an impressive three points courtesy of Joel Latibeaudiere’s first-half opener, Coventry surrendered their advantage at the death, upon Aaron Connolly slotting home a Hull equaliser.

Mark Robins’ men, in turn, find themselves sitting 15th in England’s 2nd tier, clear of Cardiff owing to little more than goal difference.

All of this taken into consideration, we at 101 are therefore backing an eventual stalemate to play out between Cardiff and Coventry, come the full-time whistle in Wales’ capital on Tuesday night.
