Bristol City vs Rotherham United match preview

Two sides eyeing a return to winning ways are set to lock horns in a Championship clash at Ashton Gate this Saturday, April 22nd.

The matchup in question will see Bristol City act as hosts, in a meeting with Rotherham United.

Beginning with the former, Bristol City currently find themselves in the midst of a less than impressive stretch of form.

After looking as though they had turned a corner courtesy of four points from six in successive meetings with Stoke City and Middlesbrough, the last couple of weeks have seen Nigel Pearson’s troops falter once more.

The Robins’ last three outings have given rise to a haul of just one point, with both of their last two having culminated in defeat, too.

Most recently, a daunting trip to Bramall Lane to take on high-flying Sheffield United saw a late strike on the part of James McAtee prove decisive in condemning Bristol City to the wrong side of a 1-0 result.

Turning attentions towards Saturday’s visitors to Ashton Gate, Rotherham, for their part, have not fared all that much better when it comes to securing points of late.

All told, across their latest trio of fixtures, the Millers managed to take home just two points.

To the credit of Matt Taylor’s men, though, both of these draws came in altogether creditworthy fashion.

First, a trip to Carrow Road saw Rotherham hold promotion-chasing Norwich City at bay, en route to a goalless stalemate.

Then, in midweek, a home meeting with table-topping Burnley saw the Millers twice fight back from a goal down, to clinch a share of the spoils.

Still just three points clear of the drop zone, though, Rotherham will be desperate for at least a point once more, come the full-time whistle at Ashton Gate later today.

And we at 101 are backing them to secure precisely that, courtesy of a third draw in four.
