Blackburn Rovers vs Middlesbrough match preview

Two sides desperate for a return to winning ways are set to lock horns in a Championship clash at Ewood Park this Saturday, September 16th.

The matchup in question will see Blackburn Rovers act as hosts, in a meeting with Middlesbrough.

Beginning with the former, Blackburn have endured an altogether hit-and-miss campaign to date.

Across five outings in England’s 2nd tier, Jon Dahl Tomasson’s troops have managed a record of two wins, two defeats, and a draw.

Both of their losses, meanwhile, came within the space of three fixtures leading into the international break.

The most recent, last time out, arrived in concerning fashion, too, as a trip to Home Park to face newly-promoted Plymouth Argyle saw the Pilgrims put three past Blackburn without reply.

And Blackburn will likely fancy their chances of precisely that, up against a Middlesbrough outfit continuing to struggle for form and results alike.

Boro, of course, surprised the masses last time out, in emerging from the relegation scrap to ultimately book a promotion playoff spot come the season’s close.

Since, however, their production has fallen off the side of a cliff, with Michael Carrick and co. currently sitting dead bottom of the Championship standings, with a solitary point to their name.

After finally getting on the board courtesy of a 1-1 stalemate with Huddersfield Town in the middle of August, Middlesbrough have since failed to kick on in any way, shape or form, condemned to successive defeats heading into the international break.

The latter, at home to Queens Park Rangers, saw the Yorkshire club’s struggles in front of goal prove a key talking point once more, as another blank in the final third gave rise to a 2-0 result.

So, all of this taken into consideration, we at 101 are backing Blackburn to add to Boro’s woes, courtesy of a comfortable three-point haul on Saturday afternoon.
